The bulldozers have been busy again and another former landmark of the University has been demolished. The old College House hall of residence has come down to make way for a new accommodation block opposite Vicarage Street. The work here, and on the other side of the building, is the initial stage of the regeneration plans of the University. Over the next 2 years the builders will be busy constructing the new Student Centre and halls.
The redevelopment has also seen the demolition of the chaplaincy. But it has not gone for ever. It has taken temporary residence on the grass in front of Vicarage Street and has taken the name The Treehouse to reflect its multi-faith role.
