This week sees the start of the Degree Show 2009. This showcase of art and design graduate talent takes place in Park Square between the 13-26 June. The show features, photography, fine art, animation and fashion to name but a few.The exhibtion is too large to review fully here, but it's fair to say that the standard of work could easily turn it into a major public attraction in years to come. Who knows, we may have the next Tracey Emin or Damien Hirst here at Bedfordshire?
Anyway here are my three tips for the top. Ben Hodson, photographer, is already making a name for himself and his current project 'Iraq - the forgotten story' will only enhance it. Emma Barry, artist, works with largescale canvases and explores the language of patterns. Nabilla Ahmed, fashion designer, who's inspiration for her collection is the architecture of London.
In his catalogue introduction, John Stephens, Head of Art and Design, writes: "We are proud of the way they (the students) are rising to the challenges that the modern world is presenting them and we wish them well in making their mark in it."
